I met up with a new friend in the Santa Fe Arts District in Denver to see the Enthusiasts performance at Buntport Theater. We were thrilled with a trio of presenters sharing what excites them as relates to Denver’s Public Library’s selection for 2025 “One Book, One Denver”. The book in question: “Stay True” by Hua Hsu. A coming of age story that takes place in the Bay Area during the nineties; covering music, fashion, Hmong culture, and zines; with themes of grief and fun and self-discovery and expression. An inspired and informative event the presenters shared their passion with an engaged audience that ended each segment with lively Q&A.
I paused at the bathroom after the show and came out to find my friend staring blankly at me and me recognizing a good few moments later that our bikes were no longer where we locked them. Luckily, my friend had an airtag stashed on her bike and after about 45 minutes of frantic searching, with the assistance of the lovely owners of the theatre, down alleyways and parking lots, we were able to retrieve the bikes. We were only out a few minor pieces like the odd bag, random tools, a 1st aid kit and the like. What could’ve been an end to a trip that has barely begun ended up being a lesson in community looking out for one another and a victory to us!
Now it’s off to buy another lock, and some airtags. Safe journey people. And if you’re in Denver, stop by Buntport and bring your bike inside!
